We'll Get Through This Together

Our worlds have been turned upside down in the last few months. We've been trudging along trying to make sense of our new normal given the painful lack of human interaction we've been facing. I can say undoubtedly that the last month has been one of the most trying times in my life - aside from changes at the national level and how it's trickled down to my daily life, there have been massive personal and professional changes as well. It's a struggle right now, and I've contemplated on numerous occasions giving up one or multiple things consuming me, just so I can have some relief. One of my saving graces is the amazing people in my life who have given me words of encouragement during this dark time. This last week, I reached out to a few of my closest and most trusted family, friends, and colleagues in an attempt to get a lifeline. My exact text read something like this...

It's not often that I reach out to people in this way - after all, I do a pretty good job of addressing my struggles and internal frustrations on my own through exercise, yoga, meditation, journaling, etc., but this month has tested me so much that it felt like an absolute necessity. And I'm so glad I did. The responses I got from my people were so, so amazing and helped remind me that what is truly important in this world is human connection. Yes, I know, that's what I'm all about anyway and what I practice and preach on the daily, but it has never been more clear as it is right now. So with that, I want to encourage you to reach out - reach out to those who you know you can trust and rely on in life. Reach out not only to get their support but to check in with them. I've made a habit of checking in with those closest to me every single morning with a simple question, "How are you doing today?"

And if you don't have anyone to reach out to, reach out to me.

I am here.

We will get through this together.
